Frequently Asked Questions
Installation
-
- How are MultiFilm® systems installed?
Depending on the system, the roller blinds can be mounted using screws, clamp brackets, or adhesive. Side guides are either glued or screwed onto the frame.
-
- What are side guides used for?
Side guides prevent unwanted light from entering at the edges, which can cause glare and reflections on screens. They also ensure the fabric runs straight and smoothly.
-
- Can the window be opened or tilted with the MULTIFILM® system installed?
For all systems mounted on the window frame, the window can still be operated as usual—tilted or fully opened.

-
- What are the maximum dimensions of a MULTIFILM® roller blind system?
The maximum width and height depend on the system and fabric material, ranging from a maximum width of 150 cm to 240 cm and a height of 340 cm to 800 cm.
The Compact-Line, with its very small cassette, has a maximum width of 150 cm and a height of 340 cm. Facade systems can reach up to 300 cm in width and 800 cm in height. Very large glass surfaces can be shaded using venetian blinds, panel curtains, or multiple facade systems installed side by side.
-
- How are the systems operated?
The systems can be manually operated using chain or cord pulls. Systems with sufficiently large roller tubes can be equipped with electric motors, which, depending on the type, can also be integrated into building automation systems.
MULTIFILM® Systems and Window Glass

-
Can closed MULTIFILM® systems cause thermal breakage?
-
No. All systems are installed in such a way that the film does not come into contact with the glass. The sun's rays are reflected outward by the coating without changing their wavelength, so the solar energy is not converted into heat. Only the radiation absorbed by the glass is converted into heat, which—depending on the type of glass—may cause a slight increase in temperature between the glass and the film, but this is evenly dissipated.
-
- Does the blind always need to be fully closed to prevent glass breakage?
No. The blind can be opened in any position.
-
- Is the effectiveness of the MultiFilm® film affected by the type of glass?
The g-value (total solar energy transmittance) results from the combination of film and glass. Depending on the type of glass and film, the g-value can range between 25% and 15%.

Are there different types of MultiFilm® films?
Yes. Depending on the type, the films are available with an anthracite, bronze, silver, white, or black inner surface. The outer surface of almost all types is silver to ensure high reflectivity and therefore effective heat protection. MultiFilm® films can also be printed with your logo or design using sublimation printing.
-
Are all MultiFilm® films transparent?
-
No. MultiFilm® films vary in light transmission depending on the type. This ranges from 0% (blackout film) to 16% (highly transparent film).
-
-
Which level of light transmission do I need?
That depends on the desired effect. If you want to completely darken a room, you’ll need a blackout film, typically available in white or black. Films with 2% light transmission offer good visibility to the outside while still providing effective light protection. One of our local dealers will be happy to advise you.
